The rules changed in 2026. Here's what it means for you.
As of October 9, 2026, ATF no longer requires NFA approval or registration to transfer suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, or "any other weapons." That means a suppressor transfer is now handled like any other firearm: you complete a Form 4473 and NICS background check. No Form 4 and no waiting on a tax stamp. Machine guns are not affected and still require the full NFA process.
Why is the fee $20 instead of $10 or $15? Dealers who transfer NFA items must still hold a Special Occupational Tax (SOT) license, which costs us $500 every year. Our suppressor fee is just slightly above a standard transfer to help cover it.

Give the seller our FFL dealer information so they can ship the firearm directly to us. Contact us and we'll send you our FFL license copy.
We'll receive the shipment and notify you when your firearm has arrived and is ready for transfer.
Book your appointment online. Come to our Lavon location, complete the ATF Form 4473 and background check, pay the transfer fee, and take your firearm home.
